Effects Pedal Power and Connection Brief for an OEM RFQ

Describe the signal path, power plan and repeatable sample setup before requesting an OEM effects-pedal quote.

An effects product is experienced as part of a rig, not as an isolated photo or feature list. Before requesting an OEM quote, a brand should describe the instruments, other equipment and user steps in the intended setup. The goal is to make suppliers answer the same configuration question and to identify what a sample must demonstrate. This guide does not state the power input, connectors or compatibility of any SoundSentry model.

Draw the intended signal path

List the instrument, effects unit, downstream equipment and any additional source used in the intended demonstration. Indicate which connections are essential and which are optional. If several arrangements matter, give each one a separate diagram and test record. A phrase such as “works with standard gear” leaves too much undefined for a product claim or quotation.

For every connection, ask for the candidate’s current interface specification and limitations. Confirm cable and accessory scope separately; a cable appearing in marketing imagery may not be part of the quoted package. Keep setup instructions tied to the exact hardware and software revision being reviewed.

Treat the power plan as a named configuration

Do not copy a power requirement from another pedal or assume that an included supply exists. Specify the target market and the power arrangement that the buyer wants to evaluate, then request the candidate’s documented input requirement, supplied-item status and applicable market documentation. If the arrangement changes, review the resulting sample and instructions again. The buyer should not publish a safety or compatibility statement from a short sales demonstration alone.

RFQ field Buyer should state Confirmation needed
Rig Instrument and downstream equipment Supported connections and limitations for the candidate
Power Desired use setting and destination market Exact model requirement and included/optional power items
Operation Actions a dealer or player must complete Current controls and instructions for the reviewed revision
Handoff Channel, languages and support owner Product data, labels and files for the exact variant

Make the sample test reproducible

Record the model and revision, rig diagram, cables and power items actually used, operator, steps and observations. If a function depends on an application or stored content, identify that version as well. A distributor can then repeat the demonstration or flag a mismatch instead of relying on memory. The earlier IR and app sample-approval guide addresses those functions specifically; this article covers the broader physical rig and power brief before the quote.

If the brand asks for a custom finish, control label or package, keep that request separate from the tested technical configuration. Ask what must be rechecked when the final sample changes. Do not treat a proposed customization as available, tested or approved until the supplier confirms it for the model and market.

Send a request that can be answered

Include the target market, product direction, rig diagram, essential connections, proposed power arrangement, branding scope, sample test plan, documentation needs and estimated quantity. Ask the supplier to distinguish confirmed details, optional items and unanswered points in its reply. Start with the current effects category or the GS-450 product page, then send an RFQ. Neither page alone establishes the configuration requested in this brief.

FAQ: Is a working demo enough to approve the power and connection claim?

No. Preserve the exact setup and obtain current model documentation for the configuration and market before making a broader claim.
